Introduction

                                                                  Introduction
My name is Sandra Morgan.  I attended Marian University, Indianapolis, IN and graduated with an ASN in 2002.  I received my BSN from Chamberlain and I currently work as a nurse at Methodist Hospital. I work in Core V specializing in Cardiovascular and Peripheral Vascular Surgeries.  I am also a surgical heart and lungs transplant coordinator.  This position can be very stressful, demanding and rewarding all at the same time.  I have recently accepted a position as the educator for cardiovascular surgery.  I am chair of the Healthy Work Environment and am involved on several committees at Methodist including Nurse Retention and Cultural Diversity to name a few.

I am married to a wonderful Bermudian man named Wayman.  We have been married for 12 years.  Since his origin is Bermuda and he still has the majority of his family still living there, we try to visit Bermuda yearly.  My family is from Barbados which we have also gone to several times.  We have a very spoiled Pomeranian dog named Skittles who we call the million dollar dog sine we paid almost four thousand dollars to have her broken leg fixed, which my husband had accidentally broke while practicing his golf swing.

Keeping the end in mind, with my recent acceptance as a surgical nurse educator I feel I am on the right path to find fulfillment in educating.  I enjoy teaching new nurses and understand the responsibility that comes along with this position.  Setting objectives is important and one of my current objectives is ensuring that nurses understand the principles of asepsis technique in the operating room.  Another objective is for each nurse to be aware of their surgical conscience, to respect and act on it in order to preserve the lives of our patients.
